After accepting a plea deal, Bobby Shmurda was officially sentenced to seven years in prison on Wednesday (Oct. 19).
Last month, Shmurda pled guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy to criminally possess a weapon and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession, taking on the seven-year sentence.
“I was forced to take this sentence, I did not want to take this sentence,” Shmurda told the court, as per Billboard. “I was forced by my attorney to take this plea.”
Later, the “Hot Boy” rapper added: “They lied to me.” His lawyer, Alex Spiro, said his client “is clearly frustrated” and that he doesn’t fault him for it.
Despite the sentence, Shmurda doesn’t actually face seven more years in prison. Due to time served, he could be out in five years. As part of his deal, Bobby has waved rights to appeal and faces five post-release years of supervision as well.
