 Lil Wayne
Is it the end for Young Money? Lil Wayne is demanding that his label be handled properly or else he may shut it down.
The rapper has reportedly filed legal documents, asking a judge “appoint a receiver to supervise the operations of Young Money Label joint venture or order the termination of Young Money Label joint venture and appoint a liquidator,” according to The Blast.
The report claims that Brian “Birdman” Williams responded to the request by saying that Wayne is not at liberty to close the label while he is still under Cash Money.
This is just the latest chapter in the ongoing saga between Weezy and Baby. In December 2014, Wayne opened up about problems with his label and its head. “I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy,” he tweeted. “I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u.”
In January 2015, Wayne sued Cash Money and Birdman for $51 million over money owed. Since then, he’s insulted Baby several times. In July, he went on a tirade against his onetime father-figure. “Birdman,” he said during a concert. “You can suck my dick.”
Throughout the years, Birdman has maintained that Wayne is his “son” and that their situation will be resolved. This month, he called out anyone who’s been critical of their relationship. “I be hearing all you ni**as talkin’ about this Lil Wayne shit,” he said. “Lil Wayne this, Lil Wayne that. Bitch, Lil Wayne my son. I raised him. He ain’t had nothing, I brought him to be something, and got something. Bitch, you think I ain’t gonna make sure he straight?
