Koffi Olomide a free man after a day in jail for assault

Congolese Lingala superstar Koffi Olomide is a free man. He was released from police custody today morning, Thursday, July 28, at 10am.

“All I can say is that I am happy for him. Now he can go on with his work as usual even taking into consideration the losses I made owing to his unruly behavior in Kenya.  But at the end of it all we are all prone to making mistakes- and Koffi is no exception,” said Jules Nsana, Olomide’s Kenyan promoter as quoted in the news site.

His freedom comes after his team campaigned social media users to stand behind Koffi Olomide, claiming that the 60-year-old musician was being unfairly prosecuted.
Koffi had claimed he had been protecting his dancer from a mugger at the airport but later confessed his actions, asking for forgiveness from his fans.
