 The MTV Europe Music Awards 2016 are almost upon us and the list of the nominees is out with
Beyoncé and Justin Bieber lead the nominees at this year’s celebration with five nods each.
That’s not all. Adele, Coldplay, Shawn Mendes, and Lukas Graham follow closely behind with four nominations, while the power couple of Drake and Rihanna nab three apiece.
Bey, Adele, and RiRi are all up for Best Female along with Sia and Lady Gaga. Meanwhile, Drizzy, Biebs, and Mendes will duke it out for Best Male alongside The Weeknd and Calvin Harris.
The Best Hip-Hop category is packed with stars too, including the 6 God, Future, G-Eazy, Wiz Khalifa, and Kanye West.
This year’s EMA will air live from the Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands on Sunday, Nov. 6. See a full list of nominees below (via Billboard).

The MTV EMA or EMAs as it is popularly known has more categories compared to any other award shows, the best regional act category aims honouring different artistes from all over the world and acknowledging the diverse musical genres such as JPOP, KPOP, MPOP from Asia and Bongo, Afro fusion, Kwaito, Afro beat from Africa to name a few.
This year, Tanzanian artiste Ali Kiba made his nomination debut in the EMAs by being the only artiste from East Africa nominated in the Best African Act category. Kiba had a successful comeback in 2015 with Mwana and Chekecha Cheketua which have garnered over three million views on YouTube. He did a collaboration with Kenya’s leading boy band Sauti Sol in the love ballad unconditionally bae which he co-wrote with the band.
Kiba has to battle it out with some of Africa’s biggest names to bring the prize home including Wizkid and Olamide from Nigeria, South African DJ Black Coffee and hip hop artistes Nyovest
