Straight Outta Coachella. Fresh off their induction
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Ice Cube delivered with a partial
N.W.A reunion and guest appearances from Snoop Dogg and Common during
his Saturday (Apr. 16) set in Indio, Calif.
Although Dr. Dre was missing, festivalgoers saw the Don Mega reunite
with N.W.A’s MC Ren and DJ Yella for “Straight Outta Compton,” “Fuck Tha
Police,” and “Dopeman.” The latter featured an appearance from Cube’s
son O’Shea Jackson Jr., who gained critical acclaim last year for
playing his father in the World’s Most Dangerous Group’s biopic.
Dre, who headlined Coachella with Snoop Dogg in 2012, wasn’t there for
the mini reunion, but Tha Doggfather was. Snoop showed up for his Cube
collab “Go to Church” and a Dre-less version of “The Next Episode.
As if that wasn’t enough, the surprises continued with Common. Cube’s
former foe-turned-movie co-star joined him onstage for “Real People,”
their Barbershop: The Next Cut soundtrack collab.
