LeBron James is giving back to the kids.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star is giving back to his community in a big
way as he is giving an opportunity for children to continue their
education in college.
James partnered up with the University of Akron in which students
that complete the "I Promise" program will get a schlorship that will
cover their tuition and university fees (about $10,000) to at least
1,000 kids.
"It means so much because, as a kid growing up in the inner city and a
lot of African-American kids, you don't really think past high school,"
he said.
"You don't really know your future. You hear high school all the
time, and you graduate high school and then you never think past that
because either it's not possible or your family's not financially stable
to even be able to support a kid going to college."
After growing up in Akron and becoming one of the nations biggest
recruits, James skipped college and eventually got drafted by the
hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.
